Wide Grip Push-Up
Overview
This exercise focuses on your pecs and triceps. Your pecs are your chest muscles, extending from your sternum across to your shoulder, from your collarbone down to the bottom of your rib cage.
Triceps are the muscle on the back of your upper arm, extending from your armpit to your elbow. It’s the muscle that allows you to straighten your arm.
Instructions
To begin, lie prone. Set your hands down at a much wider grip than you would normally do for a push up, outside shoulder width. The wider the stance, the more force on your chest.
Press down against the floor, exhaling as you do so. Lower yourself back down by bending at the elbows, inhaling at the same time.
Tips
Arching your back either up or down is a very common mistake. Your back should be like a plank.Beginner should do 3 sets of 10 reps each. More advanced people should increase to four sets of twenty. If that’s not enough, try five sets of thirty.
Pushups are a standard workout for your chest, but you can’t just do them the same way every time, or your body gets used to them. Varying the grip helps keep you from getting bored. Thanks for watching!
