Push-Ups
Overview
This exercise focuses on your pectoral muscles. Your pecs are your chest muscles, extending from your sternum across to your shoulder, from your collarbone down to the bottom of your rib cage.
Instructions
Start out lying flat on the floor, in a plank position. Place your hands at the side of your shoulders. Keep your abs tight. Look straight ahead.
Press down against the floor, exhaling as you do so.
Lower yourself back down by bending at the elbows, inhaling at the same time.
Tips
A common mistake is to arch your back either up or down. Don’t do that. Your back should be like a plank.
Beginners should do 3 sets of 10 reps each. More advanced people should increase to four sets of twenty. If that’s not enough, try five sets of thirty.
Pushups are a standard exercise that everyone should know. And now you do, too. Thanks for watching!
