Incline Push-Ups

Overview

This exercise focuses on your pecs and triceps. All you need is a bench, or any elevated surface that can support your weight.

Your pecs are your chest muscles, extending from your sternum across to your shoulder, from your collarbone down to the bottom of your rib cage. Triceps are the muscle on the back of your upper arm, extending from your armpit to your elbow. It’s the muscle that allows you to straighten your arm.

Instructions

  1. To begin, position your hands shoulder width apart on the bench.

  2. Extend your feet out behind you, close together, keeping your back straight and head up.

  3. Lower yourself until your chest touches the bench, then press up, exhaling as you push against gravity.

Tips

Always keep your abs engaged. A common mistake is allowing your butt to sag down or stick up. You should be a plank!

Beginners should start with three sets of twelve to fifteen pushups. More experienced people should increase the number of sets.

And that’s how you do a simple incline pushup, a great variation on a regular pushup. Thanks for watching!
