Calf Stretch
Overview
This exercise focuses on your calf muscles, naturally. The scientific name for your calves is “triceps surae,” but people often confuse that with your arm triceps, so we’ll just call them calf muscles.
They extend from just behind your knee to your Achilles tendon.
Instructions
Stand a few feet away from the wall, then step forward until your right foot is touching the wall. Keep your left leg straight, with your toes pointing towards the wall.
Lean into the wall, arms up, keeping your back straight. Keep your heel planted to get the most out of the stretch. Remember to breathe regularly, even when you’re stretching and warming up.
Tips
A very common mistake is stretching too far. Be cognizant of how your muscles feel. If you feel pain, you’re stretching too far, and should step in a little bit.
Hold this position for thirty seconds, then switch legs. Swap legs twice.
The calf stretch is very simple but very important. Don’t neglect to stretch before working out your legs. Thanks for watching!
