Plate Good Mornings
Overview
This exercise works out your lower back, your glutes, and your calves. Your gluteal muscles are located on your posterior, wrapping around from the side of your hips between your legs.
Your calves extend from just behind your knee to your Achilles tendon.
Instructions
To begin, place your feet shoulder width apart, keep your abs tight. Hold the plate close to your chest.
Bend down from the waist, keeping your back and legs straight. Stick your glutes out as you come down in a slow, controlled motion.
Thrust forward with your hips, coming back up to starting position.
As always, inhale on the way down, exhale as you’re pressing up against gravity.
Tips
A common mistake is arching your back while carrying the weight. Be sure to always hinge at the waist.
This is a warm up, so you can keep the weight low when you do three sets of eight.
I like to start my morning exercise this way, just to get my metabolism going before the real workout. Thanks for watching!
