Lower Back Extensions
Overview
This exercise focuses on your lower back, naturally, and your glutes help out too. Your gluteal muscles are located on your posterior, wrapping around from the side of your hips between your legs.
Instructions
To begin, lie flat on a mat.
Simply lift your chest off the mat for three to five seconds.
You could lift just your upper body off the mat, or you could lift your upper body and legs at the same time, making what’s called a “Superman” pose.
I recommend doing three of these in quick succession to work out your back muscles.
Tips
The most common mistake is extending your neck too far forward. This is meant to be a back stretch, not a neck stretch.
Back extensions are one of my favorite ways to stretch for a workout, and I think they’ll be yours, too. Thanks for watching!
