Dumbbell Lateral Raise
Overview
This exercise focuses on the medial head of your deltoids. Your deltoid is the rounded muscle that forms your shoulder.
It starts at the front in the crook of your armpit, wrapping over your shoulder to the back of your armpit, and down your arm to just above your bicep, forming a triangle, or delta, shape.
Instructions
To begin, grab your dumbbells, holding them with your palms inward. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart. Pull your shoulders back, and keep your abs tight.
Raise your arms outward, until the dumbbells are at shoulder height, then return to starting position.
Exhale as you raise the dumbbells, inhale as your drop them back down.
Tips
A common mistakes is to lift the weight above your shoulders; that just shifts the work to other muscle groups.
I recommend doing three sets of twelve reps.
Lateral dumbbell raises really help get that rounded look in shoulders. Perfect for arm day. Thanks for watching!
