Bent-Over Rear Delt Raise
Overview
This exercise, also known as rear dumbbell raises, focuses on your posterior deltoids. Your deltoid muscle starts at the front in the crook of your armpit, wrapping over your shoulder to the back of your armpit, and down your arm to just above your bicep, forming a triangle, or delta, shape.
Instructions
To begin, grab a pair of light dumbbells. Lean forward to about a 45 degree angle. Keep your palms facing in.
Bring your arms out, using only your shoulders.
Remember to breathe out as you lift, and breathe in as you return to your starting position.
Tips
A common mistake some people will inadvertently make is bringing their arms back; that hits your traps and rhomboids instead of your delts. Keep your arms forward.
I recommend doing three sets of twelve reps.
This is a tricky exercise to do properly, but with practice, you’ll really be working those delts right. Thanks for watching!
