Sit Ups
Overview
This exercise focuses on your abdominal muscles. Abs are a paired muscle that run vertically down your abdomen, from just below your pecs here, down to your pubic crest, here.
Tendinous intersections cross your abs horizontally, which is what gives you the six or eight pack look. Abs are the anterior part of your core muscles, and help keep you upright.
Instructions
First, place your feet flat on the ground. Lift up your knees to a 90 degree angle. Cross your arms across your chest.
Exhale as you sit up, elbows over your knees. Inhale as you relax, slowly, back down.
Tips
A common mistake is arching your back to come up. Be sure to push your lower back into the floor, so you’re not arching. Don’t lift your pelvis.
Start out doing 3 sets of 10 sit-ups. Once you can manage that regularly, increase your reps to 12 or 15.
Sit-ups are a classic exercise for a reason; they work your abs like nothing else, and you can do them virtually anywhere. Always keep them in your regimen. Thanks for watching!
