Shakira’s Exercise Prep Ahead Of ‘El Dorado’ World Tour

Shakira Fitness Routine

Shakira’s concerts tend to be a workout in themselves- she moves nonstop. But she couldn’t sustain this without preparation, and her longtime trainer, Anna Kaiser, is helping prepare her for the upcoming El Dorado World Tour.

Shakira’s Pre-World Tour Workout

Kaiser trains Shakira at a low-impact, sustained cardio level to increase her endurance and stamina. For those moments that Shakira goes crazy on stage but still has to keep singing when she’s done dancing, high intensity intervals that boost recovery time are part of her workout.

Secrets Of Shakira’s Pre-Tour Exercise Plan

Shakira’s trainer revealed some inside information on how the star preps for a world tour. Kaiser These are tips that anyone who needs a bit of an endurance boost can include in their workout plan:

Include stretching

At the end of a workout, it can be hard to go into extra time with stretching, and Shakira used to find it hard to remember. Her priority is now to keep her body safe and injury-free, so she has become diligent about her warm-ups and cool-downs.

Count down, not up

A treadmill minute feels like a lot longer than 60 seconds but by using a countdown timer Shakira gets a very specific amount of time to reach for in short bursts. This technique helps motivate her.

Vary different heart rates

By playing around with different heart rates in exercise sessions, with variations between interval training and low-impact sustained sets.

You don’t need a heart rate monitor or anything special.

Shakira does two days a week of interval work on the treadmill- to spike her heart rate and recover quickly, three days of dance-based interval training- to keep her heart rate steady for an extended period, and two sessions of low-impact sustained cardio, like swimming or walking. Kaiser indicated that the first two help build stamina and boost energy.

Double up workouts every now and then

A 7-day routine doesn’t leave any room for a rest day, but for Shakira’s training, she does two or three workouts two or three times a week, so she often does two workouts a day.

It’s hard work, but it does leave room for an off day while still sticking to the plan.

Doubled-up days include one lower-impact and one higher-impact activity, and she doesn’t skip workouts. Shakira and her trainer have a very specific heart rate and caloric burn goal in mind: to get her body in peak performance shape and her stamina and endurance ready for touring.
