Paddy McGuinness Loses Two Stone in One Month Thanks to New, Strict Regime

November 14, 2018

He is the man who attempts to matchmake on his famous show Take Me Out, but Paddy McGuinness has been in the news for a slightly different reason over recent times. For a long period of time he was TVs funny man, but now he is being viewed somewhat differently after revealing a striking physique in recent photographs.

It's worth pointing out that McGuinness isn't the typical celebrity who is constantly on the front-page covers. On the contrary, in this regard at least, he is relatively quiet.

However, this appears to be changing after the comedian revealed that he had lost two stone in just one month. To put this into numbers, he started his journey weighing 14 stone but has now dropped to 12 stone 4lb.

How did McGuinness transform himself?

It would be fair to say that a lot of the success McGuinness has achieved is related to his strict dieting regime. He preached completely clean eating, and sticking to four meals per day. Ultimately, this means that there was no snacking, which can be one of the principle downfalls for a lot of people who are attempting to lose weight by dieting.

In reference to the “clean eating”, this means cutting out all of the unnecessary carbs and fatty foods that are so problematic amongst a lot of dieters. Instead, his diet was comprised mainly of lean proteins, such as chicken, while plain rice and vegetables will also have been turned to.

Of course, there was an element of resistance training thrown in there. However, at just three hours per week, this was hardly a life-changing amount of exercise. This most probably equated to three sessions; spaced out accordingly to ensure that his body was not over trained.

Has McGuinness continued his strict regime?

In a word, no. However, that isn't to say that he has reverted back to his former habits. Instead, after getting to a "happy" level, he has now returned a little more back to normality. He currently weighs 13 stn 9lbs, and says that his current diet is "decent enough" for him. For him, this means that he is comfortable with his wardrobe, whilst not exhausting himself when combatting standard daily activities like climbing the stairs.

However, at least in terms of dieting, it would be fair to say that McGuinness’ adaptation of his “strict” regime is going to prove much more long-term. While he may have been very pleased with his shredded-physique, he admitted in several interviews that it was a very tough regime to follow. Particularly with McGuinness being on the road for long periods of time, where his diet and exercise schedule is likely to suffer as a result, there’s every chance that he would have faltered later down the line.

Now he is turning to the occasional treat, it at least allows for some rest bite and maximizes the chances that his body is going to stay in optimum condition for the long-term. There will be occasions where he might have to turn to fast food, or so-called treats, particularly when he is on the road and has few options following a late show. However, if these are at least managed, it can make the effects much less noticeable on his body.

What has been the effect of McGuinness' transformation?

It would appear as though the hard work McGuinness has put in is paying off as well, at least from the perspective of his marriage.

McGuinness is married to a former Miss GB, having tied the knot in 2011. They now have three children together, and McGuinness was keen to reiterate the importance of his other half during an appearance on TV show Loose Women. During the clip shown to her on the show, McGuinness proceeded to class her as an "amazing wife" and "fantastic mother" to their children. She reciprocated the compliment, but also said that while she took to motherhood very easily, it wasn't the same for McGuinness who struggled somewhat. Nevertheless, there seemed a mutual respect between the two and it was clear that they are very happy.

A closing note on Paddy McGuinness’ journey

Once upon a time, Paddy McGuinness was regarded as anything but the healthy celebrity. Whilst few would doubt his humour, he was not the typical TV personality who you would often find on the front pages of magazines.

However, all that changed, albeit somewhat briefly. McGuinness had the motivation to transform his diet, and also add a three-hour weight training workout into his week as well. It meant that he dropped an incredible two stone in just one month, and this should prove to be an inspiration for anyone. The fact that his workouts weren’t overly strenuous should be particularly motivating and show that you don’t have to dedicate ridiculous amounts of time every week to your exercise plan; a moderate amount can suffice if it is combined with a strict eating regime.

Of course, some will point to the fact that since his dramatic weight loss, he has actually put some more weight back on. Whilst this is true, let’s not forget that he is much happier with his body. This is something that often gets overlooked. It is easy to lose yourself in statistics and claim that you have “only” lost a certain amount of weight, but if you are happy with your situation it can only enhance the chances of you remaining in that state. At least in the case of McGuinness, he has publicly stated how much happier he is with his wardrobe and his general feeling. Let’s not also forget that some of the weight that McGuinness has put on is very likely to be muscle, which is quite significant in the grand scheme of things.
